D and I bought a Groupon to Z-teca ages ago and finally used it the other day for lunch. We visited the downtown location, which is in Commerce Court – so, not the nicest spot for lunch, unless watching 1000 suits chow down around you whets your appetite.
Z-teca offers burritos, burrito bowls, tacos, and salads, with a variety of fillings (chicken, pork carnitas, steak, braised beef, and grilled shrimp). I went with a chicken salad, while D got the pork burrito.
The meat in both dishes was very tasty, and they were generous with the portions. The salad was fresh, and I loved the lime dressing that covered everything.
A salad and burrito came to about $18, which I thought was a little on the steep side for food court take out, but to be fair the portions are massive. I don’t know how I took down the beast that was my salad, but I got a massively bloated belly to prove it.
Burrito places are a bit dime-a-dozen around Toronto, but I reckon Z-teca’s fresh ingredients and tasty meat will give them staying power.
